Getting Started with WordPress

A website is your identity in this digital era. Whether it is an e-commerce, personal blog, business, brochure, news or portfolio; anyone can build a website who has basic knowledge of web tools. But building and maintaining it is an another story where WordPress comes into picture by making it simple yet robust.

WordPress is a web content management software which is open source and free for everyone. You can host your WordPress site on your personal server or you can purchase a WordPress server. Azure, AWS, DigitalOcean, GoDaddy and many other provides shared as well as dedicated WordPress hosting server.

A short time ago, it was crucial for me to have my own personal portfolio website to showcase my past and present projects with summary, images and demo videos. I started building website from scratch using HTML, JavaScript and PHP. As time went on, it becomes clear that it won’t be that easy. I started looking for other options and I came to know about WordPress from my college friend Darshan Panchal. I went through some beginner tutorial and I was amazed.

WordPress makes it so easy to build and maintain my portfolio website by hiding development complexity to end-user. It makes it so simple just like desktop RAD (Rapid Application Development) Tools. Drag & Drop, Live Page View, Quick Editing, Commenting and Collaboration are impressive. By using these amazing features, I built my portfolio in three days without writing a single line of code.

This is just a new beginning for me. I am exploring WordPress and it’s core. I am more interested in contributing to WordPress and community.

Cheers,
Anurag
